GP in Canadian CANSail courses – 2018 – 2022

Key data:

  • In 2022, there were 13,135 registrants in CANSail programs across Canada. Females comprised 29% of the 13,135, males 48% and unspecified gender 23%.
  • The drop off rate after CANSail 1 and 2 is large for both females, males and unspecified gender. As an example, in 2022, the percentage of registrants in CANSail 1 was 52%, in CANSail 2 it was 28%, in CANSail 3 it was 11%, CANSail 4 was 5%, CANSail 5 was 3% and CANSail 6 was 1%.
  • In 2022, the percentage of females stayed consistent throughout the CANSail levels (1 to 6) at 26% – 33%, with the lowest percentage contribution in CANSail 2 (26%) and highest in CANSail 6 (33%). The percentage of males trended up from 46% in CANSail 1, 47% in CANSail 2,  54% in CANSail 3, 54% in CANSail 4, 56% in CANSail 5, and 52% in CANSail 6.  The percentage of unspecified gender was highest in CANSail 2 at 27%, and lowest in CANSail 5 and 6 at 15%.
