Initiatives from LEAP Sailing

Building awareness in the sport of sailing

ABYC INCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY FUND

Sailing is a sport that teaches lifelong skills of teamwork, resilience, and leadership, and this fund allows more people to access our sport and potential career opportunities within it.

The Ashbridge’s Bay Yacht Club Inclusive Opportunity Fund provides financial assistance to junior sailing candidates who would not otherwise be able to participate. This fund allows ABYC to offer programs to more young people, who are from low-income, female and/or diverse backgrounds over a multi-year time.

Wind Athletes Canada

A registered charity, Wind Athletes Camada provides a venue for sailing organizations to receive donations

Candidates can attend the Junior Sailing School program, from Wet feet through CANSail levels 1-6. At the completion of the CanSail program, those candidates showing leadership potential would be offered fully paid Instructor Training, and if successful, positions teaching at the JSS.

LEAP Sailing

LEAP Sailing’s goal is to not only build awareness of the inequity in the sport of sailing but to also offer initiatives that offers economic opportunities to those who would not think that sailing is a pathway to employment. In partnership with ABYC and Windathletes we provide a way to donate to our programming by receiving a tax deductible receipt to the fund.
