·       Identifying the reasons for girls dropping out of sailing was the first issue. We found that many girls do not continue sailing for a variety of reasons

·       Lack of shared experience with other girls

·       Very few role models as instructors and race coaches, and equipment which was not designed with the female body in mind.

·       Our goal has been to find a blueprint of programming that will engage girls in sailing as a lifelong sport.
